WORLD RX DRIVERS STAR AT GOODWOOD FOS

Drivers and cars from the FIA World Rallycross Championship starred at the prestigious Goodwood Festival of Speed last weekend in the UK.
American World RX star Ken Block attended the event for all four days, signing autographs for fans on the Ford stand alongside his Ford Focus RS RX, before car and driver head to Holjes in Sweden this weekend for the next instalment of World RX. Block also drove his Ford Fiesta RX43 on the famous Goodwood hill.
Also doing demos for the fans was World RX podium finisher Andrew Jordan, in his role as reserve and promotional driver for the EKS team, which currently leads the World RX teams’ championship standings. Jordan raced for the Swedish squad in Italy last season and wowed the Goodwood crowds with the demonstrations, including performing launch-starts in front of Goodwood house.
“I just love driving rallycross Supercars. They are really spectacular to watch and we did some donuts and starts to show the fans what the cars can do,” said Jordan. “Hopefully it helps put the sport into a bigger audience all the time. It’s obviously growing very quickly as it is but any exposure at events like this helps. Any seat time I can get in the car is good for me too. I want to be racing in it, we’ll see how dates work out for next year but it’s great for me to work with the teams at events like this.”
British World RX driver Liam Doran took part in the timed element of the event and ran with the leading competitors at the front all weekend in his 2015 Citroen DS3 Supercar. In Sunday’s final shootout, Doran set the fastest time to the first split at turn one, but was forced to retire with technical problems.
“It’s absolutely brilliant to be able to go to Goodwood with the Supercar. It’s a cool event that I’ve always watched and everybody knows about, it’s a prestigious weekend and a really good feeling to get invited,” said Doran. “We’ve been very competitive all weekend, the car’s been running great and punching well above it’s weight considering it’s supposed to go on dirt and over jumps and stuff. This is far from ideal for a Supercar, there’s so much tarmac and straights. We were second or third fastest all weekend, I think without our problem we would have been third. We’ve got some good exposure for rallycross too, so it’s great.”
