Finland’s Topi Heikkinen will compete in the Andros Trophy ice racing series this winter, with the first round getting underway at Val Thorens this weekend. The FIA World Rallycross Championship driver competed in the series last year for the Mazda France team and will again partner multiple champion Jean-Philippe Dayraut.

“I’m really looking forward to it. The format is similar to rallycross, but I think it will be much easier for me this time around with a bit more experience. Because you know the tracks, you don’t need to go out so much in practice and you can save your tyres, which is very important in this sport. Also, the tyre supplier has changed for this year so everybody starts from zero, which is better for me,” said Heikkinen. “I hope we can climb to the podium many times this year. Last year was more like a practice year, and now I hope for some good results.”

Another World RX regular, Jean-Baptiste Dubourg, will race a Renault Clio run by his regular DA Racing team. Dubourg competed in the FIA European Rallycross Championship in 2015, and also raced at this home round of World RX at Loheac, where he challenged champion Petter Solberg in the final and finished third. Super1600 driver Andrea Dubourg will also take part in another Clio 3.
